It’s unknown why it’s taken so long to reach the big screen, but it’s supposed to arrive this fall. 20) - This disaster film starring Gerard Butler filmed in New Orleans in late 2014 and early 2015 at locations including NASA’s Michoud facility and Metairie. Filming locations included Madewood Plantation House near Napoleonville. The Beguiled (June 30) - Director Sofia Coppola ( Lost in Translation) is remaking the 1971 Clint Eastwood film about a union soldier being sheltered at a girls’ boarding school during the Civil War. When First We Met (TBD) - This romantic comedy starring Adam Devine ( Workaholics) and Alexandria Daddario (Summer's upcoming Baywatch) shot in New Orleans last summer. Bush’s claims that Iraq was harboring weapons of mass destruction. Shock and Awe (TBD) - Rob Reiner has made a second movie in the Crescent City, a story about reporters investigating George W. It’s scheduled for wide release later this year. LBJ (November) - Director Rob Reiner’s biopic of the former president (played by Woody Harrelson) opened the New Orleans Film Festival in 2016. So expect a lot of French Quarter and downtown locations on screen. Girls Trip (July 21) - This comedy starring Jada Pinkett-Smith and Queen Latifah filmed in New Orleans last summer during Essence Festival. Harrah’s Casino and the old Charity Hospital were just some of the New Orleans locations used. Logan (now playing) - Hugh Jackman put on the Wolverine claws for the last time in director James Mangold’s R-rated superhero flick. While the number of high-profile productions in the state has tapered off recently, there are still a number of noteworthy films shot in Louisiana scheduled to hit theaters in 2017 and early 2018.
